BEN LINE AGENCIES RAISES $17500 USD FOR PHILIPPINES CAUSE
Ben Line Agencies is pleased to announce that it has managed to raise $21500 USD to help the rebuild effort in Tacloban province. The sum, along with food and clothing was sent to Manila last week to be handed over to Sagip Kapamilya for distribution.
We would like to thank everyone who contributed to this warm gesture and wish the people of the Philippines the quickest possible recovery.
Typhoon Haiyan, which struck the east coast of the Philippines on 7th November has been announced as the 4th largest tropical cyclone ever on record and, if estimates are met, it will be the deadliest natural disaster that the country has ever faced. As of November 13th, the United Nations (UN) warned it expected "the worst”, saying that in the city of Tacloban alone, more than 5600 people have died.
This catastrophe has impacted the region beyond imagination and Ben Line Agencies is playing its part in the relief effort. Employees across the Group are donating money, food and clothing to be shipped over to the Philippines in the coming days. Furthermore, Ben Line Agencies has agreed to match whatever monetary total is raised by its employees.
Once the total donation is gathered together, the aid will be sent to Ben Line Agencies’ Philippines head office in Manila and handed over to the humanitarian assistance group Sagip Kapamilya who specialise in emergency assistance to communities affected by disaster.
The Typhoon has caused destruction on an unprecedented scale and Ben Line Agencies is taking an active role in furthering the recovery effort.
