A new regulation on ship emission control in China has been issued and will be implemented on 1st January 2016 in phases. Controlled areas include Pearl river delta, Yangtze river delta and Bohai sea waters.

The first phase will be implemented on 1 Jan 2016, where the local ports involved in these areas will announce their individual requirements (refer to page 7 of the English explanation). At this stage however, the announcement from the respective ports has not been received yet.
As for vessels staying at anchorages whether In Port Limit (IPL) or Off Port Limits (OPL), including OPL of Hong Kong (where the locations is within the controlled area of Pearl River Delta, refer to page 1 and 2 of the English explanation), we shall await for further announcement from the respective ports to clarify if vessels are also required to comply with the regulation.
Remarks: Should there be any discrepancies between above Chinese and English versions, the Chinese version shall prevail.
