We are very proud to be associated with the Plastic Odyssey project https://plasticodyssey.org/en/ . On October 1st, 2022, the M/V Plastic Odyssey Vessel set sail from Marseille for a 3-year expedition. It is headed for regions most affected by plastic pollution. On board the laboratory ship, 20 explorers have been tasked with finding concrete solutions to combat plastic pollution.

As an organisation committed to promote all areas of HSEQ and Sustainability, Ben Line are a proud partner of the project. We are offering Marine Agency operations support across Asia, our teams will be handling the scheduled port calls in Cambodia, Philippines, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Malaysia and India, in addition to the recent stay in Singapore.

Whilst in Singapore our team attended the project awareness day with Industry and media partners, as well as providing all required services to the vessel during her stay.

Ben Line – The Push-Up Challenge 2024

Ben Line has committed to participate in the “Push-Up Challenge 2024”. A fundraising event focused on pushing for better mental health in society and for all our Great People.

The 2024 challenge is to complete 3,249 push-ups in 24 days, from 5th to 28th June 2024. This symbolic figure represents the number of lives lost to suicide in Australia in 2022 (the most recently available data), highlighting the global issue of mental health that is a factor in all our lives.

It can also be substituted with alternative exercises like, sit-ups, squats, wall push-ups – anything goes !

The Mission to Seafarers – Global Ambassadors Meeting

On Monday 6th November, Ben Line attended the first Global Ambassadors meeting of the Mission to Seafarers (MtS) in Singapore. Attended by representatives from Shell, Rio Tinto, Anglo American, South32, Fairfield Chemical Tankers, Swire Bulk, BHP and Eastern Pacific Shipping, as we discussed ways to help improve seafarers welfare across the world.

Through our extensive network of offices across Asia Pacific, and through our wider Waterfront Maritime Services network, we are uniquely placed to be able to make a real difference to seafarer welfare, through our services and interactions with crew during port calls. During this meeting, we heard first hand from shipowners and operators, of their desire to make meaningful improvements to their seafarers wellbeing – as a Group, we will be formulating a clear plan on how Ben Line can best support our principals in their efforts to do this. There will be more to come on this in the months ahead !

Senior Managers Meeting – Singapore

Ben Line recently held the annual gathering of our senior management team in Singapore. With participants from 18 countries, we were pleased to welcome for the first time colleagues from our recently established offices in Bangladesh and North America.

As we approach our 200 year anniversary in 2025, the meeting focus was on ensuring the business structure is sound, our IT supports our business requirement, and we have the right people to drive our expansion.
